New national highways and railway upgrades unveiled in Tamil Nadu

Modi will commission several national‑highway projects totaling about 3,700 crore rupees, including a four‑lane 36‑km stretch of NH‑744 between Vadugapatti and Therkuvengallur and a 30‑km four‑lane ring‑road segment of NH‑744A around Madurai. Additionally, the foundation stone for a four‑lane bypass on NH‑83 (Nagapattinam‑Thanjavur) will be laid to provide an alternate route around Tiruvur. Railway infrastructure worth more than 750 crore rupees, such as the Karikal‑Peralam line, three flyovers near Coimbatore and the renovation of five stations under the Amrit Bharat scheme, will be dedicated to the nation.
