New Economy Missions and Infrastructure Plans Unveiled in Kalaburagi

Chief Minister Shivakumar detailed the formation of two mission‑driven entities aimed at revitalising Kalaburagi’s economy. The Kalaburagi Economy Mission, registered as a Section‑8 company, will act as a single‑window facilitator for investors, focusing on manufacturing, logistics and skill development.

The Bio‑Economy Mission will concentrate on agro‑processing, targeting value addition for locally grown crops such as pigeon pea, bananas from Kamalapur, raisins and millets. By creating processing clusters, the state expects to raise farmgate prices and open export opportunities.

Key infrastructure components include a new fly‑over on the Sedam Ring Road, a comprehensive ring‑road DPR, and a ₹30 crore lake‑park project to enhance urban amenities. An IT park spanning 30 acres will be developed to attract startups and established firms, promoting a technology ecosystem outside the state capital.

These measures are expected to generate employment, stimulate private capital inflow and lay the groundwork for sustained regional development.
