New Cooperation Framework Aims to Deepen UP‑Yamanashi Parliamentary Ties

The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly formalised a new cooperation framework on August 21, seeking to deepen parliamentary ties and foster friendly dialogue. The memorandum outlines mechanisms for regular information exchange, joint research initiatives and reciprocal visits, targeting enhanced legislative efficiency and policy learning.

During the visit, the Japanese team observed Uttar Pradesh’s digital infrastructure, including live streaming of proceedings and data‑driven decision‑making tools. Speaker Satish Mahana presented the state’s recent reforms in public service delivery, inviting Yamanashi officials to study these models. In response, President Hideori Miyamoto highlighted Yamanashi’s experience in disaster‑risk management and sustainable tourism, proposing collaborative pilots in both regions.

Key focus areas mentioned in the MoU include economic development, tourism promotion, agricultural best practices, education exchange programmes and human‑resource development. The agreement, effective from the signing date, underscores a shared commitment to strengthen democratic institutions without imposing legal liabilities.
