Neha Bora’s release sparks demands for release of other protesters
Following her release from the RK Puram police station, AISA president Neha Bora addressed reporters, reiterating her call for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Dhr. Gyanesh Kumar. She also pressed for the immediate freedom of Abhijit Dipke and all others detained during recent demonstrations.
Bora warned that the state has long employed arbitrary detention as a tool to suppress dissent, noting that detainees are often held for hours without explanation before being set free the next day. "This practice creates a climate of fear and undermines the right to protest," she asserted.
She further argued that the protests are inadvertently harming small business owners, urging political leaders to drop their egos and consider the economic impact on traders. "The ruling party must allow the Chief Election Commissioner to resign, so that commerce can resume without undue disruption," she said.
The AISA leadership promised to continue mobilising students and citizens to demand accountability from law‑enforcement agencies and political authorities.
