In a candid interview, Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh described the NEET-UG paper leak as an unacceptable lapse that demanded immediate correction. He praised the government for cancelling the compromised test and scheduling a fresh exam on 21 June, insisting that any other course would have allowed undeserving candidates to secure medical seats at the expense of sincere aspirants. Singh expressed limited knowledge of the National Testing Agency’s internal structure yet placed full responsibility on the body for ensuring leak-proof conduct. He advised student organisations and political groups to abandon protest plans, arguing that renewed demonstrations could create unnecessary panic just days before the crucial re-examination. The vice chancellor also highlighted the shift to a computer-based format, saying it offers better safeguards against traditional paper leaks but requires continuous vigilance against sophisticated cyber threats. He urged candidates to channel their energy into last-minute revision rather than street protests, warning that a toxic campus atmosphere would only add to the anxiety already felt by lakhs of families. Singh concluded by expressing confidence that thorough investigation and strict punishment of the culprits will serve as a lasting deterrent for future malpractices.
