Kota Authorities Probe Death of NEET Candidate Amid Exam Rush

Kota police are conducting a formal inquiry after a 20‑year‑old NEET hopeful, identified as Khushbu Patel, was discovered lifeless in a rented flat on August 26. The student, originally from Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, had relocated to Kota in 2023 with her younger sister, both intent on cracking India’s competitive entrance exams.

Khushbu focused on NEET while her sister, Khushi, prepared for the JEE. The pair moved into a shared apartment in the Landmark City area in July, commuting daily to their respective coaching centres.

According to the police report, the incident came to light when Khushi, returning from a class, repeatedly knocked on the apartment door without receiving a response. Upon entering, she found Khushbu lying unconscious. Immediate help was summoned, and the body was taken to M.B.S. Hospital, where death was confirmed.

The family in Madhya Pradesh has been contacted and is expected to travel to Kota. A post‑mortem examination has been ordered, and investigators are gathering testimonies from the surviving sister and local residents. The exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed, pending forensic analysis.
