Ghaziabad witnessed a momentous occasion as Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the NDRF's President's Colours presentation ceremony. Shah celebrated the force's jawans for garnering admiration and confidence globally, underscoring their unparalleled dedication. The award, according to Shah, honors the NDRF's storied legacy of service and bravery accumulated over 20 years. He credited NDMA and NDRF for positioning India prominently on the world map of disaster response. 'It's a national pride, but doubly so for me as Home Minister,' he stated, noting how NDRF deployments instantly calm disaster-hit communities. Turning to broader CAPF achievements, Shah applauded the planting of more than 7 crore trees by personnel before rains, reflecting deep environmental awareness. With PM Modi's vision, India is on track for zero-casualty disasters where forecasts are available, safeguarding lives and assets proactively. India's pioneering role in disaster-resilient infrastructure, inspired by PM Modi, has attracted 48 nations to CDRI. Globally, India stands tall as the prime responder, living the philosophy of 'the world is one family.' The 10-point agenda under Modi has transformed risk management from post-disaster reaction to preemptive action, empowering communities through trained 'Disaster Friends' present at the event. Impressively, NDRF has trained thousands—including 8,500 jawans, over 10,000 civil defense staff, 220,000 volunteers, and 10,500 navigators in recent years. Robust preparations against heatwaves promise near-zero fatalities soon. Shah praised NDRF for rescuing not just people but accompanying animals, aiming for no human deaths and negligible losses.
