Relief finally arrived in the National Capital Region as strong winds battered pollution levels across Delhi-NCR. Over the last day, these winds cleared the skies, reducing AQI to moderate yellow zones in several locations, with Noida stealing the show for cleanest air.
According to latest data, Noida’s Sector-62 boasted an AQI of 130, the region’s best and squarely moderate. Sector-116 followed at 147, while Sector-1 and Sector-125 clocked 178 and 183 respectively. This positions Noida well ahead of its neighbors.
Ghaziabad saw partial respite: Sanjay Nagar dropped to 162 (yellow), but Indirapuram (202) and Vasundhara (201) stayed in orange territory. Delhi’s stations reflected the trend—Anand Vihar at 229, Bawana 220, but improvements at Chandni Chowk (179), Burari (178), and others like Dwarka Sector-8 (190) entering yellow.
Weather outlook promises more good news. Expect mist through February 15, daytime highs of 28°C, and nights dipping to 11°C. Come February 17, a western disturbance may unleash rain and thunderstorms, turbocharging air purification.
Pollution watchers note that if wind speeds hold and precipitation arrives, NCR could see sustained moderate AQI. This natural intervention underscores the limitations of man-made solutions against winter smog, reminding us of nature’s pivotal role in urban breathability.
