Bihar’s Nawada district witnessed a profound tragedy as Akhilendra Kumar, son of JD(U) legislator Vibha Devi, perished in a high-speed car crash. The accident occurred late Thursday in the jurisdiction of Mufassil police station, when his car veered off course and slammed into a banyan tree, according to official reports released Friday.
Akhilendra, younger son of ex-minister Rajballabh Prasad Yadav, was driving from his Pathar English village residence. Bystanders rushed to the scene, facilitating his urgent transfer first locally and then to Patna’s Medanta Hospital. Tragically, severe injuries proved fatal during treatment overnight.
‘He left home in his car, and it crashed just moments later into the tree,’ lamented elder brother Eklavya, capturing the suddenness of the mishap. The family, now grappling with the loss, includes Akhilendra’s three sons left behind.
While Akhilendra shied away from political limelight, his sociable nature endeared him to locals through active participation in social initiatives. The news has cast a pall over Nawada, with his remains en route to the native village for cremation. Vibha Devi remains inconsolable amid widespread condolences.
Mufassil SHO has initiated an investigation to ascertain factors like speed and road conditions. This sorrowful event highlights ongoing road safety challenges in Bihar, urging stricter enforcement and infrastructure upgrades.
