Naval cooperation highlighted as INS Sudarshani leaves Italy for next port

On September 13, the Indian Navy’s tall‑ship INS Sudarshani departed from Livorno, Italy, advancing the Lokayan 2026 mission that seeks to strengthen naval partnerships worldwide. The ship’s stop in Livorno included meetings with Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Borgotto, mayor Luca Salvetti, and prefect Edoardo Lombardi, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the voyage.

The crew also engaged with trainees from the Italian Naval Academy, exchanging knowledge on seamanship and navigation. In turn, Indian cadets toured the Italian Navy’s training ship ITS Virginio Fasan, gaining exposure to different maritime training environments.

A welcoming ceremony hosted senior Italian naval officials, local administrators, and diplomatic guests, reflecting the high level of interest in the cultural and strategic significance of the visit.

Having completed its engagements, INS Sudarshani is now en route to its next destination, continuing to promote mutual understanding, maritime security, and shared development across the oceans.
