National Lok Adalat Boosts Cyber Scam Recoveries Across Telangana
A special session of the National Lok Adalat was convened in Hyderabad to accelerate refunds for victims of cyber‑based financial scams. The event brought together the Telangana State Legal Service Authority, multiple banks, digital‑payment operators, all police commissionerates and district police units.
During the Lok Adalat, 3,896 victims were awarded a total of ₹42.28 crore. Cyberabad police emerged as the top performer, assisting 942 claimants in regaining ₹14.19 crore. The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGSCB) secured refunds for 41 victims worth ₹10.55 crore, while Malakpet police helped 1,024 individuals recover ₹5.27 crore. Hyderabad and Sunipet police also contributed, reimbursing ₹5.02 crore and ₹0.76 crore respectively.
Director Shikha Goyal praised the collaborative model, noting that swift inter‑agency communication and a shared digital platform enabled rapid verification of claims. The Lok Adalat’s success complements the ongoing Money Restoration Module (MRM) program, which has already returned ₹27.23 crore to 9,355 victims.
Overall, Telangana police have now facilitated refunds of ₹139.68 crore for 24,189 cyber‑fraud victims, underscoring the state’s leadership in victim‑centric cyber‑crime response. The bureau continues to call on the public to report scams immediately, preserve evidence, and avoid disclosing confidential banking details.
