Nashik Kumbh Preparations Gain Momentum, Saints Hopeful
Nashik, October 28: Amid the ongoing preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2026-27, Mahant Sanjay Das, national spokesperson of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, has described the plan to unite all 13 akharas at Ramkund as an unprecedented step that will be remembered in history.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the event carried deep religious and spiritual meaning. He welcomed the possibility of President Droupadi Murmu attending the flag hoisting ceremony and urged the administration and the government to speed up construction and the development of basic amenities for the Kumbh Mela.
Mahant Sanjay Das said that the likely presence of President Droupadi Murmu at the flag hoisting of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2026-27 has added to the stature of the programme. Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Swami Shri Narendracharya Maharaj, Dharma Samrat Shri Mahant Gyan Das Maharaj, the Shrimahants of the three Vaishnav akharas and saints and mahatmas from across the country are set to take part.
He also highlighted the village parikrama scheduled on the 30th, which will start around 2 pm under the leadership of Jagadguru Shri Narendracharya Maharaj. Akharas, jatha sampradayas and other saints from across the country are expected to participate. Mahant Sanjay Das noted that the active involvement of the saint community in such religious gatherings is vital.
Regarding the Ganga aarti at Ramkund, he said bringing all 13 akharas together was a significant decision. The presence of every akhara at one place, he said, would be a landmark achievement and would find a place in the pages of history. It would also give a fresh identity to the Simhastha Kumbh preparations and its execution, and he termed the decision inspiring for the saint community.
Mahant Sanjay Das said he would inspect the sites earmarked for akhara camps in the evening and then hold a meeting with officials to review the situation. Progress on the land being arranged for the three Vaishnav akharas will also be discussed. The inspection will assess the condition of the designated sites and the progress made in arranging the camps, and the matters will be discussed with officials afterwards.
He expressed concern over the delay in Kumbh preparations, saying several works were progressing very slowly. Difficulties may arise later, he warned, if the administration and the government do not show urgency in time. He demanded that all related tasks be completed promptly and with full commitment.
Mahant Sanjay Das clarified that timely completion of the Kumbh preparations is essential so that necessary arrangements can be provided for saints, akharas and devotees.
