Narcotic Tablets Worth Over ₹2.5 Crore Confiscated by Mumbai Police

Mumbai Police’s Anti‑Narcotics cell, in collaboration with the Wary unit, announced a major drug bust that resulted in the confiscation of narcotic tablets valued at more than ₹2.5 crore. The operation focused on illegal distribution of nitrazepam and alprazolam in the Govandi locality.

The case was lodged under Section 22(C) of the NDPS Act on the night of October 6, following a tip that a dealer was selling the sedative tablets from a residence in Dr. Zakir Husain Nagar. A comprehensive search uncovered 4,500 nitrazepam tablets (brand Nitcor‑10) weighing 2 kg 475 g and estimated at ₹1.98 crore, together with 5,300 alprazolam tablets (brand Procalm‑1) weighing 689 g and valued at ₹55.92 lakh.

Senior police officials, including the Commissioner and Crime Division heads, supervised the raid. The investigation is ongoing to identify the source of the drugs and the extent of the trafficking network.
