By‑polls in Nandigram and Razingar Set for October 6

Two West Bengal assembly seats – Nandigram and Razingar – will go to re‑poll on October 6 after the sitting MLAs resigned. Razingar became vacant after Humayun Kabir quit following the replica‑Bhabri mosque controversy. Nandigram was vacated by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari when he shifted to Bhabani Pur.

Mamata Banerjee lost the Nandigram contest in 2021 and later had to contest a third successive term from Bhabani Pur. Kabir has invited Banerjee to contest from Razingar, asserting he can secure her victory there.

The Election Commission’s notice confirms the nomination deadline and the re‑poll date, putting pressure on both TMC factions to finalize their candidates.
