Namo Gujarat Skill & Employment Mission Targets One Lakh Trainees in 2026-27
The Gujarat government has inaugurated the "Namo Gujarat Skill & Employment Mission" (NGKRM) with a clear goal: to skill up one lakh young individuals during the 2026‑27 financial year. The mission consolidates existing skill development schemes into a single, demand‑driven, industry‑led ecosystem.
Central to the mission is the Gujarat Institutes for Advanced Skills (GIAS), which will offer short‑term and long‑term vocational programmes covering NSQF levels 1 to 8. More than 250 industry partners and academic institutions—ranging from L&T and New Education Foundation to Arcelor Mittal, Maruti Suzuki’s International Automobile Centre of Excellence, Tata Indian Institute of Skills, and Ganpat University—have pledged participation.
The training agenda focuses on 20 priority sectors, including construction, healthcare, IT‑ITES, electronics, tourism, logistics, aerospace, food processing and media, alongside 12 emerging technology areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, electric vehicles, blockchain, cyber security, semiconductor manufacturing, data science and drone technology.
Beneficiaries will include individuals aged 14‑59, women, workers listed on e‑Labour and e‑Construction portals, informal sector labourers, economically weaker sections, and unemployed job‑seekers. Delivery models will span residential, non‑residential, prior‑learning‑recognition and other mission‑approved formats.
Training centres must be equipped with geo‑fenced biometric attendance, face‑recognition, CCTV with 90‑day video archiving, broadband connectivity, certified trainers and industry‑compliant infrastructure. All processes—from enrolment and assessment to certification and placement tracking—will be managed through the NGKRM digital platform.
Providers will receive payments based on performance metrics, covering enrolment, certification and placement outcomes. Additionally, each certified trainee will obtain a direct benefit transfer of ₹500 for every 120 hours of training, directly deposited into their Aadhaar‑linked bank accounts.
