Naharbari inspection: Sarma urges permanent embankment rebuild

In the village of Naharbari, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected the collapsed Kulsi river embankment that has contributed to severe flooding across Darang district. The broken structure allowed water to spill over into agricultural fields and residential areas, intensifying the humanitarian crisis. Sarma highlighted that short‑term fixes are insufficient; instead, the state will implement durable, engineering‑grade solutions to reinforce the riverbanks. He ordered the immediate mobilisation of technical teams to design a new, resilient embankment and mandated that reconstruction be completed without delay. The visit also included a review of relief shelters set up at Ootala Higher Secondary School, where the CM engaged with families, confirming that targeted assistance will be delivered promptly.
