Muslim Shabab President Says Govt Ignores Rising Sectarian Pressure

Tahreek‑e‑Musalman Shabab’s president Maulana Mushtaq Malik gave a stark assessment of the current socio‑political climate on Thursday. Referring to former Vice President Hamid Ansari’s recent remarks, Malik said the government is failing to address the surge in communal intimidation directed at Muslims.

He recounted specific incidents: the relocation of an IPS officer after he uttered “Jazakallah” in a routine interaction, and the growing harassment faced by Muslims travelling on trains while wearing a turbans or beards. Malik warned that such everyday restrictions effectively curb the freedom of worship.

“The nation was once praised worldwide for its diversity, but now that very diversity is being weaponised by hate‑driven forces,” Malik asserted. He added that Ansari’s comments, made from an international perspective, are “spot on” and underscore how India’s image is deteriorating abroad.

The comments came amid a broader political row, with the governing party objecting to Ansari’s statements while several Muslim organisations expressed alignment with his concerns.
