Murmu Highlights Decade of Inclusive Growth and Social Justice

In a comprehensive address delivered on the pre‑Independence Day eve, President Draupadi Murmu outlined India’s progress over the last ten years. She praised the nation’s commitment to inclusive development, noting that social justice initiatives have become a cornerstone of policy.

The President recalled the celebration of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s 200th birth anniversary, underscoring his and Savitribai Phule’s contributions to education, women’s empowerment and equality. Their legacy, she said, continues to inspire programs aimed at uplifting historically disadvantaged groups.

Key milestones were highlighted: more than 250 million citizens have been lifted out of poverty; the Jan Dhan financial inclusion scheme now links 59 crore bank accounts, with women accounting for over 32 crore of them; and 80 crore people benefit from free ration supplies that guarantee food security.

President Murmu also commended the relentless efforts of students, teachers, scientists, engineers, healthcare professionals, farmers and laborers, describing them as the backbone of nation‑building. She called on legislators to voice public aspirations, the executive to translate them into policy, and the judiciary to ensure that justice is accessible to all.

The address reaffirmed India’s resolve to balance heritage with modernization, drawing inspiration from the Vedic injunction “Vayam Rashtra Jagriyam” – a call for perpetual vigilance in safeguarding the nation’s future.
