Mumbai Faces Over 99 Tree Falls and Floods; Officials Asked to Prioritize Safety

The city of Mumbai has recorded more than 99 tree or branch fall incidents in the past day as relentless monsoon rains lash the metropolis. In addition, thirteen short‑circuit reports, six wall‑collapse incidents and multiple water‑logging events have been logged. MP Milind Devda, using his X platform, urged the municipal commissioner to act swiftly, citing the heightened risk to pedestrians, commuters and schoolchildren. He called for a temporary suspension of all educational activities and for businesses to consider work‑from‑home policies until the weather stabilises. Devda reminded the public that safety is paramount and advised against non‑essential travel.
