Multiple students hospitalized after Daund bus crash

In Daund, a state‑run transport bus carrying school children suffered a severe accident on the Chaufala‑Supa Ghat road on September 16. The driver’s loss of control sent the bus into a nearby ditch, where it toppled multiple times.

Health authorities reported that over fifteen students sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to serious trauma. All victims are currently receiving treatment at local medical facilities, and doctors continue to assess the severity of their conditions.

The complaint lodged by 15‑year‑old Arya Indrabhān Shitole prompted police action, resulting in an FIR against driver Rahul Trimak Madavi. The driver is charged under IPC sections 281, 125(A), 125(B), 324(4) and Motor Vehicles Act sections 134 and 177 for negligence and endangerment.

Assistant Police Inspector Kadam is heading the probe, interviewing witnesses and reviewing the bus’s compliance with safety standards.

Community leaders are calling for immediate reviews of school transport protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.
