Multiple Fraud Allegations Surface Against BJP Leaders in Pulwama District

Authorities in Pulwama district have expanded investigations into alleged fraud and intimidation by several BJP affiliates. Among the accused is Ejaz Ahmad Shah, a senior figure in the BJP Farmer Front, who faces a charge sheet under IPC Sections 420 and 506 for a 2022 scam that involved soliciting money under the pretense of police help. The complaint was filed at Tral police station following the July 2024 amendment to the criminal code. Shah, appointed as the party’s deputy head in November, now contends with three FIRs this year and a history of cases dating back to 2016. The police have also named other political operatives for similar misconduct, citing promises of jobs and official favors that never materialised.
