Mud‑brick house roof falls in Dubra, Gwalior, leaving five family members trapped

Around 11:30 p.m. on September 3, a section of the roof of a two‑storey mud house in Dubra, Gwalior, collapsed under the weight of relentless rain.

Five people from the same household were caught beneath the falling structure. Neighbours who heard the crash rushed to the location and coordinated with the Dubra City Police to clear the wreckage.

Rescue workers succeeded in extricating the family members, but two fatalities were recorded: two‑year‑old Aditya and his mother Seema Rajak, aged 33. The father, Jagendra Rajak, who works at a local shoe factory, and his daughters, aged five and eight, suffered injuries and were admitted to the district civil hospital.

The family, living on rent in the dilapidated house for about fifteen years, had limited financial means. Following the incident, a crowd of relatives and locals gathered at the hospital, raising concerns over the adequacy of emergency medical response.
