Students ended an 11‑day sit‑in in Pune after pressing for the resignation of MPSC chairman Vivek Vihmanwar over a paper‑leak controversy. The government announced a high‑level committee headed by retired Justice Dilip Bhosale to audit structural flaws in the commission.
On Monday, Vihmanwar announced his leave pending the inquiry’s outcome. The BJP argued that the chief minister does not possess the power to dismiss the chairman directly; any action must follow the constitutional process.
Pachpute highlighted that the chief minister’s earlier acceptance of most demands did not extend to the chairman’s removal, underscoring the constitutional separation of powers.
