The death of a tribal resident in Rewa district highlights the stark consequences of inadequate rural infrastructure. Authorities had allocated Rs 4 lakh for a road to the village of Dehia and an additional Rs 2 lakh for the neighbouring settlement, but only about 70 percent of the funds were disbursed, leaving the road incomplete. As a result, emergency services cannot reach the area, and residents were forced to carry the injured on a makeshift stretcher across a two‑kilometre stretch of mud and gravel. The incident follows a similar tragedy during the COVID‑19 pandemic when another woman was also taken on a cot because no vehicle could access the village.
