MP demands inquiry into alleged excess force on student demonstrators

Manikam Tagore B., representing Virudhunagar, has appealed to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha for an immediate discussion on the police crackdown during a student gathering at Jantar Mantar. He questions whether the deployment of pellet guns, tear‑gas and water cannons was justified, whether proper procedural guidelines were followed, and if any FIRs lodged against the protesters will be withdrawn. Tagore also seeks a commitment from Home Minister Amit Shah to appear before Parliament and provide a detailed statement.
