Monsoon Hygiene Drive Launched in Gorakhpur: No Littering, No Drain Encroachment

In a public gathering on July 23, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a monsoon‑season hygiene campaign in Gorakhpur. He called on citizens to keep streets clean, refrain from throwing waste onto roads, and especially avoid disposing of rubbish in storm‑water drains. Such actions, he explained, can block water flow and provide a haven for mosquitoes and disease outbreaks.

The CM also promoted the use of safe, filtered drinking water to curb virus‑related health risks. He encouraged the community to plant a tree on any vacant plot, pledging protection for each sapling, as trees contribute shade, fruit, fresh oxygen, and support ecological balance.

Yogi pointed out that Gorakhpur enjoys plentiful water resources – two lakes and two rivers – which must be conserved through rainwater harvesting techniques and careful usage. He noted that the state’s recent upgrade to world‑class infrastructure places a responsibility on citizens to prevent illegal occupation of public lands, ensuring smooth traffic and fostering economic development for present and future generations.
