Monsoon Alert: Avoid Trekking to Tandulwadi Fort Until Roads Cleared
The state’s disaster management team has released a monsoon alert for the Palghar area, specifically warning against trekking to Tandulwadi Fort until the access road is fully cleared. Continuous rain has left the hillside saturated, increasing the likelihood of further landslides.
Visitors are strongly advised to postpone any planned trips to the fort for the next few days. Officials highlighted that even experienced hikers could be caught in sudden rock or soil movements, which could result in serious injury or worse.
Local tourism officials reiterated that the main road remains blocked by large rocks and accumulated mud, and that clearance operations will only commence when the weather stabilizes. They also asked the public not to spread rumors and to rely solely on official communications for travel decisions.
The fort, known for its panoramic views and historic significance, will be reopened only after thorough safety checks and removal of all hazardous material. Until then, the administration urges everyone to prioritize their safety over sightseeing.
