Modi stresses learning from all members, opposition included
Prime Minister Narendra Modi used a breakfast briefing on August 5 to convey a simple yet powerful message to the newly inducted BJP MPs: learn from everyone in the House.
He pointed out that the parliamentary ecosystem thrives when members observe the conduct, arguments, and strategies of both allies and rivals. By doing so, legislators can sharpen their own skills and contribute more effectively to law‑making.
Modi also highlighted that the opposition’s role is essential for a healthy democracy, and urged the newcomers to respect and understand differing viewpoints. This approach, he said, would enhance the quality of debates and lead to better outcomes for citizens.
The Prime Minister concluded by encouraging the MPs to spend more time on the floor, ask questions, and actively engage in committee work.
