Modi and Shah Accused of Removing PM Video Over ‘Safe Harbor’ Debate

The BJP MP turned his attention to a recent parliamentary committee meeting that discussed a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Dubey, the committee wrote to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Home Ministry, stating that the removal of the video was not the job of an intermediary but of the publisher itself. He demanded that Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg issue an apology within three days, warning that failure to do so would lead to the revocation of the platform’s "safe harbour" protection.

Dubey emphasized that safe harbour is meant to shield platforms that take swift action against illegal content, not to provide blanket immunity for political material. The MP warned that ignoring the committee’s directive could set a dangerous precedent for future content disputes involving Indian leaders.
