In a high-octane speech at Siliguri’s Vijay Sankalp Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday exposed the Trinamool Congress’s decade-and-a-half of destructive governance in West Bengal. Continuing his second straight day of campaigning, Modi rallied thousands, promising a BJP government that would deliver justice.
The PM began by bowing to the crowd’s warmth. ‘From elders blessing my roadshow to the youth here today, your love fuels me,’ Modi emoted. ‘Those in the audience who were in primary school 15 years ago are now set to shape Bengal’s destiny. But TMC offered no progress—only misdeeds.’
Zeroing in on North Bengal’s woes, Modi slammed TMC for sidelining the region’s infrastructure. ‘Siliguri, North Bengal’s gateway, got deliberate neglect in roads, industries, and tourism. Syndicate raj devoured central aid,’ he said. State budgets favored vote banks over development, even as floods devastated districts while Kolkata partied.
‘TMC is hostile to North Bengal, tribals, tea estates, women, and youth,’ Modi asserted. ‘Post-May 4, they’ll account for every moment and penny.’ He highlighted national security risks, calling the Siliguri Corridor vital. ‘TMC backs anti-national elements plotting to disconnect Northeast for appeasement politics.’
Spotlighting tea gardens, Modi praised Assam BJP’s initiatives—land pattas, better education, health, and jobs—while decrying Bengal’s plight. BJP’s manifesto promises similar for Bengal: homes, utilities, employment, and education. A new sports university in North Bengal will empower youth, especially girls, via national programs.
Modi accused TMC of blocking Rs 1 lakh crore central tribal welfare schemes. ‘Fear sustains TMC’s empire; BJP will instill confidence,’ he concluded, urging voters to end the ‘mahajungleraj’ and embrace BJP’s vision of growth, security, and empowerment.
