Modi Government Pushes 2026 Paper Leak Amendment to Safeguard Students
The Union government introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) (Amendment) Bill, 2026, aiming to seal loopholes that enable paper leak syndicates. BJP representative Bansuri Swaraj hailed the move as a testament to the administration’s sensitivity toward student welfare.
Referencing the Prime Minister’s firm stance that paper leaks are a criminal act, Swaraj argued that the amendment reflects a proactive policy rather than mere rhetoric. He emphasized the necessity of a dedicated central task force, empowered by the bill, to investigate and dismantle organised cheating networks.
Swaraj highlighted past scandals in states such as Rajasthan and West Bengal, as well as recent technology‑driven irregularities in pharmacy recruitment exams in Punjab, underscoring the urgency of comprehensive reform.
He concluded by urging all parliamentarians to support the legislation, stating that its passage will protect the aspirations of countless students across the nation.
