MLA S.T. Somasekhar Calls for Action Against Unlicensed Quarry Operations

In a statement to the media, MLA S.T. Somasekhar highlighted his long‑standing concerns over illegal stone mining in the Madapattana region. He recounted previous attempts to raise the issue with the mines and geology department and the forest department, and mentioned that a petition committee had heard the matter several times. Somasekhar asserted that out of ten workers present at the site, seven died instantly and a further worker later succumbed to injuries. He urged immediate arrest of those responsible for unauthorized blasting and called for the enforcement of stricter safety protocols to protect workers and wildlife.
