Minor and Adult Arrested in Joint Snatching Operations, Say Delhi Police

In a coordinated raid, Delhi’s Anti‑Snatching and Burglary (ASB) cell captured two perpetrators – an adult and a juvenile – linked to recent motorcycle thefts and street snatching crimes in the city’s eastern zones. The investigation originated on August 30 when a victim reported the theft of his bike via an online portal, leading to an e‑FIR under section 305(b) at Pandav Nagar police station.

The ASB team analyzed CCTV feeds and identified a 22‑year‑old suspect, Tushar, also known as Gattu, residing in Trilokpuri. Information from police informants reinforced the visual clues, enabling officers to locate and arrest Tushar while he was still wearing the outfit seen in the recordings. The police retrieved the stolen motorcycle associated with him and later found another bike that had been taken from the Mayur Vihar area.

Tushar disclosed that he had partnered with a minor to execute multiple snatching incidents in Mayur Vihar and Pandav Nagar, using the pilfered motorcycles for swift getaways. The minor was subsequently detained based on this testimony. Both suspects acknowledged their involvement, explaining that dire financial circumstances and a habit of chewing tobacco drove them to crime. Their statements are currently being corroborated by further evidence.
