In a development that has gripped public attention in Jharkhand, authorities are investigating the suspicious death of an 11th-standard girl from Sirsia village in Giridih. Payal Kumari disappeared on 19 May while heading to tuition and tailoring lessons. Her body was recovered on 21 May from the banks of the Usri river near the old Barganda bridge. The case has drawn sharp reactions from locals who believe it to be a murder. Responding to mounting pressure, state minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu reached the village on Sunday. He met the family, offered condolences, and assured them that the government would leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice. Mayor Pramila Mehra was also present during the visit. The minister instructed senior police officials to carry out a fair and detailed investigation. He emphasized that any person found guilty would face strict punishment. Villagers demanded that the matter be heard in a fast-track court and that arrests be made without delay. Police teams have questioned multiple individuals, yet no formal arrests have been announced. The incident has left the district in a state of unease, with residents urging swift and transparent action.
