Minister Kapil Dev Agrawal Warns Political Parties Against Exploiting Rama Controversy

Lucknow, July 6 — Minister Kapil Dev Agrawal addressed the media following the theft of offerings from the Ram temple in Ayodhya, condemning the opposition’s reaction as a calculated political move.

Agrawal said that the Samajwadi Party and the Congress have a history of making inflammatory statements about Lord Rama’s existence, and that their current protest over the theft is a continuation of that pattern.

“Their past remarks have tried to tarnish the image of the deity and the cultural heritage of the nation,” he asserted, adding that the public is aware of the attempts to politicise religious sentiment.

He highlighted that while the theft deserves a proper inquiry, some leaders are using the incident as a “convenient opportunity” to stir unrest and gain votes. Agrawal cautioned that the electorate in Uttar Pradesh is not naïve enough to be swayed by such tactics.

The minister reiterated that a transparent investigation will reveal the truth, and that those who manipulate religious issues for electoral gain will face political repercussions.

Agrawal concluded by affirming that the people of the state have repeatedly rejected attempts to politicise sacred symbols and will continue to do so.
