Former Mig-21 squadron to receive first Tejas Mark 1A fleet

The first Tejas Mark 1A squadron will inherit the legacy of the retired Mig‑21 Bison units. The No 3 ‘Cobra’ squadron, which flew the Mig‑21 Bison until its phase‑out last year, is slated to become the inaugural operator of the indigenous fighter. This unit has a storied history, having been the first to receive the upgraded Bison version of the Mig‑21. Now it will host the advanced LCA Mark 1A, marking a historic shift from Soviet‑era aircraft to a home‑grown platform.
