Meta Receives Direct Notice from NHRC to Remove Illegal Child Sexual Abuse Material

Meta Platforms, the owner of Instagram, has been formally served with a notice by the NHRC demanding the immediate deletion of child sexual abuse content. The commission stressed that the platform must adhere to its legal responsibilities under Indian IT law and cooperate with state police investigations. The notice also informed the central IT ministry of the ongoing violations, aiming to strengthen oversight at both state and national levels.
