Meghalaya Congress Committee Gets Fresh Executive Office Bearers

New Delhi, August 16 — In a decisive move to solidify its presence in the northeastern state, the Indian National Congress announced fresh appointments for the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Sunday.

The party’s All India Congress Committee release confirmed that President Mallikarjun Kharge approved the induction of two Executive Presidents—Deborah C. Mark and Khlanglin Lingkhoi TBN—along with a Senior Vice‑President, Saleng A. Sangma. The Vice‑President positions were filled by Boniface Bamon, Boldness L. Nongum and Omarlin Kindiyah. Three General Secretaries—Vansuk Siem, Sanjay Das and Brigadi N. Mark—were also appointed.

At the district tier, leadership reshuffles saw Lwanpinshangain War named head of the Eastern West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee, CB Siem taking charge of the Re Bhoi District Committee, and Princor M. Mark appointed president of the South West Garo Hills District Committee.

Four core committees have been constituted under the MPCC: Political Affairs, State Election, Disciplinary Action and Manifesto. Former Tamil Nadu leader A. Chellakumar will chair the Political Affairs Committee, which includes senior figures such as Vincent H. Pala, Deborah C. Mark, Saleng A. Sangma, Jarita Laitflang, Matthew Anthony and other notable party members.

Vincent H. Pala will lead the State Election Committee. The Disciplinary Action Committee will be headed by Khlanglin Lingkhoi TBN with Vansuk Siem as coordinator, while the Manifesto Committee will be overseen by Saleng A. Sangma, assisted by Sanjay Das.

These appointments are part of the Congress’s broader "organization creation" campaign, aimed at reinforcing its state‑wide framework, improving coordination among senior cadres, and gearing up for upcoming political challenges in Meghalaya.
