Mayawati’s Directive: No BSP Positions for Brother’s Descendants

Mayawati issued a firm directive that none of the descendants of her brother, Anand Kumar, will be granted any role within the Bahujan Samaj Party, whether at the grassroots level or in the state legislature. The decision is part of a broader strategy to eliminate ‘family‑centrism’ from the party’s functioning.

She reiterated that political responsibility will be extended only to individuals who demonstrate competence, dedication and a commitment to the party’s core ideology. The BSP will continue to prioritize candidates from all sections of society, ensuring that gender balance and youth participation are central to its electoral calculus.

The chief also reflected on the party’s track record during its four terms in power in Uttar Pradesh, citing progress in road construction, electrification, water supply, education and health services. According to Mayawati, those achievements were possible because the government operated on secular, egalitarian principles rather than on patronage.

She urged BSP members to focus on serving the people and warned that any attempt by rival parties to exploit caste divisions would only weaken democratic progress. Mayawati concluded by affirming that the party will stay true to the vision of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, fostering social change and economic emancipation.
