Mayawati Accuses Akhilesh Yadav of Vote‑Buying with ‘PDA’ Colour Switch
Lucknow, September 21 – In a blistering set of posts, BSP national president Mayawati attacked SP leader Akhilesh Yadav over the “PDA Rath” that the party is showcasing for the Uttar Pradesh election campaign. She argued that the rath’s saffron hue overtakes the party’s red symbolism, aligning more closely with the BJP‑RSS colour palette.
Mayawati described this as a form of vote‑buying through visual appeal, a tactic she likened to a chameleon changing colours to suit its surroundings. She further suggested that SP’s confidence in securing Muslim votes has diminished, given the community’s frustration over the party’s failure to block the BJP’s ascent in previous polls.
The BSP chief highlighted that many Muslims now feel disillusioned, questioning why they continue to back a party that has not delivered on curbing the BJP’s dominance. She indicated a possible shift of this voter block toward BSP, which she claims champions law, order, and the welfare of all citizens.
Mayawati also called out SP for its inconsistent definition of “PDA”. She noted that the acronym has been rebranded several times – from “backward, Dalit” to “pandit” – and that the party even posed in BSP’s blue attire to project an Ambedkarite stance, only to be dismissed as opportunistic by the public.
Reiterating BSP’s own performance record, Mayawati affirmed that the party has repeatedly ensured safety, development, and social upliftment across Uttar Pradesh, making it the ideal choice for a government that serves the entire populace.
