Massive ghee consignment blocked in Madhya Pradesh after quality alerts
Madhya Pradesh's food safety wing has intercepted a consignment of roughly 25,000 litres of pure ghee, valued at about Rs 1.5 crore, after receiving quality alerts on dairy products entering the state from other regions. The ghee, bearing the Govardhan label and manufactured by Parag Milk Foods Ltd of Pune, was stored at a central depot that services the entire state.
Under a statewide quality‑check drive, officials inspected the facility, seized twenty sample packs of varying sizes, and ordered an immediate halt on all sales. Central licensing authorities were alerted, prompting a team from the national food safety board to join the investigation on site. The seizure highlights ongoing efforts to monitor and safeguard dairy supplies against sub‑standard imports.
