Massive Cash Seizure at TMC Office in Bengal

A major cash recovery operation was carried out by West Bengal police in the South 24 Parganas district, yielding ₹1,02,79,000 from a Trinamool Congress office in Diamond Harbour. The seizure took place on Wednesday.

Police sources confirmed that the raid on a party office in Sarisha was executed based on actionable intelligence from Sumit Roy. Roy is known to be the executive aide to TMC national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee.

The aide is currently held in police custody connected to a case registered at the Kalitala-Ashuti police station. His custody has spanned multiple legal entanglements. He was arrested earlier this year in Salboni, Midnapore, over claims of unlawful land acquisition. Last week, he was detained again in Diamond Harbour for a different land-related offense.

Interrogation of Roy reportedly led investigators to the Sarisha party office. Upon conducting a search, police discovered the undisclosed cash. Authorities have refrained from confirming who was operating the office or why such a high volume of currency was stored there. A formal inquiry is being conducted to map out the management.

Preliminary evidence indicates a potential link to a soil theft case registered locally. Investigators are working around the clock to trace the cash's origin and determine its connection to ongoing land disputes. The case remains under active scrutiny.
