Mass Arrest at Akashvani Building as Protest Over Election Commissioner Escalates

The Akashvani building in New Delhi became the centre of a political flashpoint when a large group of opposition MPs gathered to demand that Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar step down. Police intervened after the protesters tried to push open the gate leading to the Election Commission headquarters, situated roughly 300 metres away. Among those detained were Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K.C. Venugopal, Pawan Khera and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. Rahul Gandhi later told reporters that about 300 parliamentarians were prevented from meeting the commissioner, describing the incident as an attack on democratic processes.
