Marandi claims political plot behind withdrawal of JPSC exams, calls for CBI probe

In a sharply worded statement, Babulal Marandi accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of conspiring to end the student movement by ordering the cancellation of the JPSC examinations. He said the move was designed to protect officials who were involved in the alleged irregularities of the recruitment process.

Marandi said the government’s promise to engage with protestors was a façade, and that the actual decision to cancel the exams was taken in a closed‑door meeting. He reiterated his demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry to uncover any wrongdoing and to hold accountable those who may have facilitated the unlawful appointments.

He added that candidates who cleared the exams under transparent conditions must not face any disadvantage, and that the state should respect the rule of law rather than resort to ad‑hoc decisions.

The opposition leader’s demand for a CBI probe aligns with his party’s longstanding call for an independent investigation into the entire recruitment process.
