Manoraga Project Workers Face Fatal Crash, Several Injured

In the Laharagaga locality of Sangrur district, a fatal crash claimed the lives of nine women engaged in the Manoraga (Jalam Ji) project under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Scheme. The accident happened when a fast‑moving vehicle collided with the workers who were cutting grass along the highway. Hospital reports indicate that 7‑8 patients were admitted, with one succumbing to injuries and a few being referred to higher‑level hospitals for advanced care. The incident has sparked a debate over the adequacy of safety provisions for MGNREGA laborers working near traffic.
