In the wake of a horrific warehouse blaze in Anandpur that killed several workers, BJP spokesperson Agni Mitra Paul has accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of callous indifference. Speaking exclusively, Paul charged that Banerjee’s administration is mired in vote-bank maneuvering, shielding the powerful while the vulnerable perish.
The inferno revealed shocking violations: no fire clearance for the momo production unit on site, as verified by fire officials. Yet, only lower-level staff face cuffs, while the owner remains free. ‘This is no accident; it’s a cover-up,’ Paul declared, pointing to five days of inaction and unconducted DNA tests on remains.
Compensation of just 10 lakhs per family drew sharp rebuke, with Paul alleging TMC’s extortion racket enables such illegal setups statewide. Funds from these operations allegedly funnel into party coffers and strategic offices, he claimed. Banerjee’s hate-mongering politics, Paul warned, will boomerang on her.
Paul likened opposition figures like expelled TMC’s Humayun Kabir and Left’s Mohammad Salim to Banerjee’s proxies, all aligned to consolidate minority votes. He noted the irony: Banerjee once railed against infiltrators during 34 years of Left rule but now courts those votes for power. The fire tragedy amplifies calls for accountability in a state plagued by governance failures.
