Malda Border Sweep Leads to Arrest of Six Suspects Including Indian Facilitator

Security forces intensified monitoring along the Malda stretch of the India‑Bangladesh frontier, culminating in a series of arrests on August 26. Police and BSF officers first detained Ripan Biswas, a resident of Baidyapur village, and Manik, a migrant from Bangladesh’s Rajshahi district, after a night‑time operation in the Habibpur police area. Biswas is alleged to have acted as a broker, collecting fees to help illegal entrants cross the border. In a follow‑up search, BSF personnel captured four additional Bangladeshi nationals – Mohammad Moharram Ali, Mohammad Uamin Hussain, Mohammad Jagdal Hussain and Mohammad Sajib Hussain – all linked to the same infiltration network. The two primary suspects were presented before the district court, whereas the four others were sent to a holding centre pending deportation procedures.
