Majuli district hospital hosts inauguration of Prime Minister’s Jan Aushadhi outlet

In a ceremony attended by district hospital staff and local citizens, the Prime Minister’s Jan Aushadhi Kendra was inaugurated at the Majuli district hospital. The centre will dispense more than 2,100 different generic medicines, offering patients savings of 50‑90 percent compared with commercial brands.

MLA Bhuban Gam addressed the gathering, highlighting the government’s commitment to affordable healthcare. He encouraged people to use the facility for regular prescriptions and chronic disease management.

The joint director, Dr. Kishore Kumar Kaman, explained that the centre’s inventory includes drugs for cardiovascular ailments, oncology, diabetes, infections, allergies, digestive disorders and nutraceuticals. The launch marks another step in the nationwide effort that has already established over 20,000 Jan Aushadhi centres, delivering billions of rupees in savings to the public.
