Maharashtra‑Gujarat Corridor Set for 2027 Operation

The high‑speed rail link between Maharashtra’s financial capital and Gujarat’s industrial heartland is on track for an initial launch in 2027.

Officials have confirmed that the Surat‑Bilimora stretch, about 50 km long, will see passenger services start on 15 August 2027, coinciding with India’s Independence Day celebrations.

The full 508‑km corridor, extending from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, is slated for complete commissioning by 2029. With a design speed of 320 km/h, the line promises to cut travel time to a fraction of current rail journeys.

Infrastructure highlights feature a 7‑km under‑sea tunnel, elevated tracks that reduce ground disruption, multiple long‑span bridges, and twelve major stations strategically placed to connect economic zones.

Upon full activation, the corridor will usher in a modern, fast, and reliable rail option, reshaping regional connectivity and boosting economic activity.
