The Water Resources Department issued a moderate‑level flood warning for the Mahanadi River on Thursday, warning district administrations to stay on high alert for the next 24 hours. Engineers expect a flow of about nine lakh cubic feet per second at the Mundali Barrage.
Veteran flood‑control officers and engineers with prior experience in Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara have been posted to the river’s lower reaches to coordinate emergency measures and protect vulnerable settlements.
